Back in June I was invited to an Open House at the Fairview pottery Studio.  I first shared some photos of the Open House on August 15th, 2013, in the Pottery Studio Open House post.

I took some additional photos during the day on my iPhone, that I thought I’d share with you. The post received a number of views, (and I had a few ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ on Facebook) so obviously people are really interested in the studio!

During the Open House, there were several potters working on different projects at different stages, including weighing their clay, throwing it on the wheel, and then setting it aside to dry for the first stage.  Then we watched potters scraping, smoothing, and thinning their pieces to prepare them for firing.

We also saw:

  • The studio set up for glazing and painting
  • The electric kilns
  • Racks of greenware waiting to be fired
  • A Raku Demonstration (more about that here!)
  • A display of completed pottery for purchase

Scroll through the slide show below for some of the additional photos I took!

Have you ever taken a pottery class or created at a pottery studio? Do you want to?
