I found the notion of competing pretty nerve-wracking too before I competed the first time, so when I went to Winter War in 2015, I participated in the Unfinished Projects challenge. I didn’t “win”, but found it helped settle my nerves a bit, and I got great feedback that helped inform my research and documentation for when I DID compete….
Unfinished Projects display at Harvest Feast
With that in mind, I’m hosting an Unfinished Projects display at Harvest Feast in Bitter End in September. Bring what you have, in whatever state you have it in.
Project half-done and your research is not much more than a notebook with some bullet points? Cool!
Project totally done, but your documentation is a few screenshots from your favourite blog? Awesome!
Researched your passions to the nth degree, but haven’t started your project beyond collecting a handful of supplies? That’s cool too!
- Bring what you have.
- Try to unite it with either project name-tags or some other visual way of letting people know this is your project.
- Feel free to stay with your project and chat with people about it OR just drop it off and go enjoy the rest of the event (please pick up your project before feast). (If your project is auditory or performance, this might get a bit trickier – be creative!)
- Leave notes for OTHER participants, to encourage them, share ideas, or give advice.
- Participating in the display does NOT require that you compete – no pressure – just show us what you’re up to!
Call out to all members of A&S and bardic orders in our kingdom’s baronies, all past shire A&S defenders, members of the Order of the Argent Flame (Avacal), Order of the Jambe de Lion (An Tir), Laurels of Avacal (and their apprentices and students), and Courtiers – please enter your current works-in-progress too!
Are you competing for the A&S Defender of Bitter End? That’s fantastic! You can STILL drop off your unfinished project for display – though we all know your full attention will be on the competition!
(subject to change if needed by event autocrat and Their Majesties)
Display – 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Pre-registration not required
Location on site – TBA (A&S area)
