How beautiful is this three-dimensional floral fabric from the EuroKangas in Helsinki?
Each time I’ve visited Finland, fabric shopping has been high on my agenda. You already know that I bought some gorgeous diamond twill fabric at the medieval market, but I did other fabric shopping too!
Eurokangas is a chain fabric store, and first I visited the one in Turku. The location I visited is in the Sokos department store across the street from the market square.

Today’s CoBloWriMo blog prompt topic is “media” – and instead of sharing thoughts on mass media and how it relates to my costuming, I thought I’d switch things up a little.
Full line up of the SCA largesse I received – I kept one of the sets of candles for myself!
This is my August 24 entry for the CoBloWriMo challenge – Unexpected Source.
Some of the items I’ve received in Largess have let me down entirely new paths for craft and costume! For instance, a few years ago I volunteered at gate at an event, and was invited to pick something from largesse for a thank-you. I picked a wooden lucet fork, and that led my interest in trying lucet. (I’ve since replaced that wooden fork with a bone one from Warm Hearth Creations .)
I also have benefited from other gifts; items that I would have made for myself, but then didn’t need to because they came from largesse instead! One of these was a needlebook – I’ve since acquired two of them – one for my period-style sewing kits, and the other for my mundane one!

On July 22, 2017, the SCA group in Calgary took part in “Warhorse” at the Military Museums.
“Horses have been a key part of the Military from ancient times to the modern day. We have some participants bringing horses to show off the medieval horse in various eras.”
CoBloWriMo – Costume Blog Writing Month
Oh… the UFO… Unfinished projects. One of those things that torments me… they sit in my sewing room waiting to be finished. Sometimes when they start bugging me enough they go into a bag and into one of my fabric closets. If I can’t see them they can’t keep bothering me, right?
The CoBloWriMo prompt for today is UFO – and I’ll just show ONE of my UFOs… which I wish I were further along with.
