I was in Vancouver in late September, and one of the first places I visited was Dressew, a fabric store I’ve been to a number of times before, and blogged about a few times before as well. I noticed that a store I haven’t been to before opened up across the street – Atex fabric. I had to check it out!
I was looking specifically for wools in herringbone twill (or even better diamond / lozenge twill) or silk taffetas, especially in blues or reds. Their sign on their window said that they specialized in natural fibres, so I had high hopes!
Unfortunately the window was really hard to photograph, but you can see their claim at the bottom of the window!
The shop is quite small (older heritage buildings and high downtown Vancouver rents mean that a lot of stores in this area are) and fabric is on two levels, with wools, fancies, and knits on the main floor and linings and quilting fabrics on the second.
Unfortunately, while they did have a LOT of natural fibre fabrics, it wasn’t exclusively natural fibres, and they didn’t have anything close to what I was looking for. All the same, if you are visiting Vancouver, take an extra 20 minutes before or after visiting Dressew to check out Atex too!
