Grey and black wool-blend hood
Although I really liked the plaid hood I blogged about the other day, I thought that it was a bit short, and thought that it would be nicer with a longer, fuller capelet. I had some black-and-grey wool-blend fabric with an interesting square weave left over from another project, and so opted to cut out a second hood from this leftover, with a much longer capelet.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t accounted for the longer capelet with the hood itself, so I went to the remnants from another recent project (the red and black wool-blend coat) to cut the hood itself. I tied the two back together again by taking leftovers from the black-and-grey fabric to trim the black hood.
I wore this around the house for half an hour while puttering around, and it’s VERY warm… This fit much nicer than the plaid version and I was quite happy with the result. So happy… that I wanted another!
Inspiration
If you haven’t already visited Midgaarb on Instagram, I recommend it! I am following a bunch of really lovely costumers and reenactors, and find all of them really inspiring – whenever I can find the time to actually sew and create that is!
