At Borealis Yule, teaching a pattern-drafting class for millinery wasn’t the only thing I got up to – I also took a pyrography class! In the class, the instructor provided the tools to do the wood burning, and also boxes. We didn’t get a lot of advanced notice on the size of the boxes (since he had to go out and buy them) so I had to pick a design kind of short-notice. I went to the Instagram account of Fiskr Art, and was inspired by a design… so created my own with a lot of the same elements. Continue reading

Just a little shopping spree brag blog post here. I visited the Calgary Spring Fibre Festival on May 12, 2018 and picked up a few different items.

From one seller I bought a lovely spool of natural hemp (as recommended by my friend from @Black Sheep Textiles) and from Aubusson House Fibres Fine Yarn & Supplies I bought a number of spools of tapestry yarn. These were $10.00/lb, and I bought 3lbs. This should be plenty of yarn to play around with, and usually sells for $15.00 for a 1/4lb spool.  Continue reading

While I was doing a lot of cosmetic shopping at Winners, I first passed up this Boudoir Eyes eyeshadow mini-palette from Two-Faced. I mentioned it to a friend, and she said that she thought I’d like their products – because for pale skin the shades still showed up…
