With the SCA needing to cancel all in-person events for North America, a lot of different SCA groups have chosen to move their events online. While Avacal (the SCA kingdom I’m in) ended up cancelling most of their events and not creating virtual versions – they did end up doing an online Grand TUA ( a series of workshops over multiple days) along with a few other online events.
I went to that, as well as a number of other Collegiums, Salons, and the like. I’ve also been taking a number of individual workshops – particularly through the University of the Midrealm which has multiple per week.
In August (I think?) our Baron proposed doing the Samhain event online, and I volunteered to coordinate classes and make a schedule for the event.
We’re still waiting for the website from the Montengarde webminister, but the Avacal social media officer made a Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/829467851131615 where I’ll be publishing some of the information in the weeks leading up to the event. The event will be November 6-8.
I thought I’d post about a few of the workshops that have been confirmed so far, though I’m still working to fill different time spots. This event is designed for people who are in the SCA, but it’s open to anyone interested in the topics – either historical, costuming, cooking, or whatever.
There are a lot of workshops that I’ve lined up that I’m really excited about, but I’ve included a few here that I’m really excited about. There are still more coming so this isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, but I thought these ones might make a good teaser to entice some of my blog readers to join us as well.
If you’re interested in joining us, the event is public and will be conducted on Zoom in Mountain Standard Time.
The schedule of events will be published on the website with Zoom URLs when available. You don’t need to download Zoom to use it – but it does give additional features if you do.
The Facebook event is https://www.facebook.com/events/829467851131615/
Once the website information is up, you’ll be able to find it at https://www.montengarde.org/Welcome/
Of course, I’ll also post a few highlights on my own Dawn’s Dress Diary Facebook Page – feel free to click “follow” if you want to keep abreast of all the different classes that are coming!
