Award of Arms

Award of Arms

I understand that part of the SCA involves lots of challenges and commemoration, so I thought I’d try to keep track of things as much as I was able. There’s some things I’ve totally forgotten or never picked up on to begin with at all because I hadn’t even thought of recording it!

This post is really more as a way of recording things for me… and honestly, I doubt anyone else would be interested. It’s also subject to be updated as more information arises.

Blue card – membership acquired February 19, 2015, renewed March 2016, 3-year acquired in 2017. Not renewed in 2020 – Covid-19 meant no in-person events happened in 2020.

Drifa, Licentiate of the Royal University of the MidRealm with an emphasis in SCA and Historic Topics

Although the Avacal TUA does not appear to be up and running in any way during the covid 19 pandemic (emails are unanswered, etc) other groups are managing their records, and in May 2021, I was awarded a Licentiate degree in the College of SCA and Historic Topics from the Royal University of the MidRealm as well as a Graduate degree in the same.

Licentiate – 15 credit hours across any of the colleges. If 7 hours are from a particular college, the Licentiate may include that emphasis.  (confirmed May 2021)

Graduate – 30 credit hours across any of the colleges, with 15 hours in a single college of emphasis. (confirmed May 2021, thus making me “Drifa, Graduate of the Royal University of the MidRealm with an emphasis in SCA and Historic Topics”)

Adept – 55 credit hours across any of the colleges with 30 hours in a single college of emphasis.

Guild involvement

In January 2015 I joined the Facebook version of the Avacal Fibre Arts Guild – though I haven’t figured out if that means I’m part of the guild or if there’s something more which needs to be done.

In February 2015 I sent an email to inquire about joining the An Tir Costumer’s Guild, however their website seems out of date, which means I’m not sure if it’s active or not. By late April I had not yet heard from them.

In late 2014 or early 2015 I joined the unofficial “not a guild” Montengarde Culinary Group. I attend meetings a few times a year, because the primary location is not particularly accessible.

Starting in March 2020, Covid-19 forced all events online, and all in-person events were cancelled. Since my previous attendance had waned, largely because many events were out of town and I was frustrated trying to attend things – this new change meant events were substantially more accessible. This move definitely renewed my interest in the SCA.
