Corset class – preparing your pattern

So, you’ve picked out a commercial corset pattern and have selected the size that you want to use – but wait!  There is a discrepancy between your measurements and the pattern measurements!

If you have ever adjusted patterns before, you know that it can be a frustrating task – that’s why picking a pattern that is as close to your size as possible to start out with is the best idea.  Making up your muslin will help with finer details, but before you start cutting out your fabric, you might want to make some of these adjustments now.

Lightweight modern Victorian design overbust corset in sheer blue fabric over pink cotton with black flocking and silver glitter.
This is an early design of mine, with a less dramatic shape than my other corsets.
Hook and eye front closure, back lacing with eyelets instead of grommets.
German plastic boning.
Two layers of fabric with single-layer construction methods, exposed inner boning channels, no waist stay.
Velvet trim on top edge, ribbon trim on lower edge.
Beautiful lightweight lingerie corset.
New, never worn.

3 layer corset with waist stay, front heavy-duty zipper, back lacing.
Beautiful evening or fetishwear corset.

Centre front length 8.5″

Matching hand-dyed rose dragon brocade neck corset.
Lined in black cotton for comfort.
Not boned, but heavily interfaced for structure. Garment can be ironed.
Back lacing, trimmed in black bias poly-cotton trim.
Designed for a 14″ neck, but will fit a variety of neck measurements.
Comes with elastic lacing for comfort.
