After finishing my Rain print triple zipper crossbody bag, I wanted to make a second triple zipper bag – just a little larger.

For my rain print bag, I actually enlarged the pattern from Miko Craft, printing it at 105%, however for this version I printed it off at 135% instead, which meant taping pattern pieces together.

I also had some great purple glitter HTV left over from my purple glitter dome bag, so I turned to the Maker Space and used their Cameo Silhouette 3 to cut out the same design from my Cathedral Arch mini mirrored shelf to apply to the front of this bag.

After putting together my purple glitter dome bag, I wanted to try something that wasn’t quite as challenging, but still…. glittery!

I found some glitter vinyl online for a decent price (so much of it is soooo expensive!) and so turned to the dome bag pattern that I drafted and used for the quilted skull print bag (rather than the Miko Craft one I used for my purple glitter bag) because I found it went together a  little easier for me.

After putting together my purple glitter dome bag, I wanted to try something that wasn’t quite as challenging, but still…. glittery! In addition to purple glitter HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl), I also bought blue, so it was time for a similar-but-different dome bag, in blue glitter!

I was checking out a bunch of free downloadable purse/bag patterns recently (if you follow me on my Facebook page you’ll have seen a bunch of them) and sewing up some of the ones I thought would be the most useful – that also had patterns that were interesting.

One of the ones I downloaded and tried is the Sew Sweetness Tower Messenger Bag.

I chose a poppy print cotton – remnants leftover from a dress I made a number of years ago. It’s bright and cheerful, and the large, bold print I thought would work well for a statement bag (but the print isn’t so big that it would get too chopped up with the size of this bag.

I used plain red cotton broadcloth to line the bag, and gunmetal tone hardware throughout – but the small zippers are black.

When I made the Dome Bag #2 from Miko Craft, I could really see it in one of those glittery vinyls, and just couldn’t stop thinking about that. However I have looked for that glittery vinyl for ages, and have never found it. (I have found something that might be similar online – but it’s pretty pricy – too expensive to just order a yard and hope it’s the right stuff…)

So… I came up with an idea…

I can’t say that it’s successful mind you, but it was an attempt, and that’s something – right?
