It’s been a really long time since I did a Beauty Blog post, but I figured I’d do a quick run down for my first ColourPop order.

Back around December/January I was seeing a lot of ads for ColourPop, and they were having a pretty nice sale – so I put out the call on my socials to see if anyone I knew had ever bought from them – and… crickets.

Either my post didn’t get seen (thanks algorithm), or no one I knew had ordered from them to give feedback.  In early June, they had another similar sale (not quite as good, but pretty good all the same…) so I figured I’d take the plunge and check it out. Continue reading

A while back I got a bunch of fabric from my former teacher, and one of those lengths of yardage was this thin, snakeskin print.  I ended up making shorts, leggings, and a dress… most as “intentionally wearable toiles” – basically test garments in fabric that I’d like enough to possibly wear if the pattern worked out -but not so special that I’d be devastated if it didn’t.

When I got some free fabric from a former teacher, I put this snakeskin knit into the “to make toilles with” box – it’s always nice to have some knit that I don’t really love that I can use to mock up patterns with to test fit…

Earlier I’ve posted about some of the other jewelry I made with the beads I had, for both the Viking Age wardrobe, but also for Byzantine, Roman, & Finnish Iron Age. While I was looking up inspiration for them, I also looked up some of the other eras I costume for – but decided NOT to use beads to make jewelry for – at least not yet.

This is a bit of a research-dump, mostly for myself to come back to if needed…
