Trying out new purchases from ColourPop
It’s been a really long time since I did a Beauty Blog post, but I figured I’d do a quick run down for my first ColourPop order.
Back around December/January I was seeing a lot of ads for ColourPop, and they were having a pretty nice sale – so I put out the call on my socials to see if anyone I knew had ever bought from them – and… crickets.
Either my post didn’t get seen (thanks algorithm), or no one I knew had ordered from them to give feedback. In early June, they had another similar sale (not quite as good, but pretty good all the same…) so I figured I’d take the plunge and check it out. Continue reading
A second ‘wearable toile’ – a dress in a snake skin print knit
A while back I got a bunch of fabric from my former teacher, and one of those lengths of yardage was this thin, snakeskin print. I ended up making shorts, leggings, and a dress… most as “intentionally wearable toiles” – basically test garments in fabric that I’d like enough to possibly wear if the pattern worked out -but not so special that I’d be devastated if it didn’t.
When I got some free fabric from a former teacher, I put this snakeskin knit into the “to make toilles with” box – it’s always nice to have some knit that I don’t really love that I can use to mock up patterns with to test fit…
Selfie in one of my Byzantine costumes, wearing my new beaded necklace
Earlier I’ve posted about some of the other jewelry I made with the beads I had, for both the Viking Age wardrobe, but also for Byzantine, Roman, & Finnish Iron Age. While I was looking up inspiration for them, I also looked up some of the other eras I costume for – but decided NOT to use beads to make jewelry for – at least not yet.
This is a bit of a research-dump, mostly for myself to come back to if needed…
