Ages ago I tried my first self-portrait, but while re-doing my bedroom and creating a bit of a black and white gallery wall, I wanted to add another in there. Now… my housemate is the artist in our household (and doesn’t do portraits…) so I’m not pretending that this is some masterwork. BUT… I like it, it was fun, and I wanted to show it off.

Ok… I’m getting a little extra now with all of the new decorations for my bedroom, right?

I loved the silver contact paper I used for my tissue box and hoped to use it for a pen cup (previously I had a coffee mug with Finnish metal musicians on it!) but I didn’t have enough. While I was shopping for more, instead I found a sheet of self-adhesive tiny mirror squares.

A new drum shade for my pendant lantern

This is another kind of simple / silly project, but I’m still really happy with it and want to show it off.

For years I’ve had a paper lantern for my hanging pendant lamp that I dyed red, but since I’m switching my room from a red & gold theme to silver & blue, I also wanted a CHEAP new lampshade.

I looked online at a bunch of places to find a pendant lamp shade, but couldn’t find anything. I was considering just going with another paper lantern from IKEA (which at $4.99 totally fits the cheap requirement) but I wanted a drum shade instead – I don’t know why… but I just thought the shape was better for the look I was going for.

A silver tissue box holder to suit my bedroom aesthetic

Ok… this is kind of a silly project/post, but do you ever look at the tissue boxes in your house and just think “ugh… that doesn’t GO”?  Well, when I was doing a re-decorating/cleanup of my bedroom, I was just finding all of the printed tissue boxes just didn’t fit at all… so I decided to make myself one that WOULD.

I actually looked at a few different stores (in person) and no one seemed to sell tissue box covers. It must be one of those things millennials killed :p AKA… something that just isn’t relevant anymore, since so many tissue companies are printing cute boxes anyways.
