Gothic Cathedral circle skirt

If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember I got a shipment of Heat Transfer Vinyl back in December. The main reason I bought this… was for this project – a Gothic Cathedral circle skirt.

I have been loving the iconography of cathedral windows (as visible in the papercraft project and the cathedral pillar I did) but also loved the sketch Emma Rubini did for her Harrow the Ninth/  Harrowhark cosplay concept.  I wanted to take this same concept, and apply it to a skirt for myself.

Pink micro-pleated cowl neck top

pink micro-pleat sleeveless cowl-neck top

pink micro-pleat sleeveless cowl-neck top

Years ago I had a red slinky knit cowl neck top I loved. Of course, I ended up spilling salad dressing or something on it, and it was stained. I ended up taking it out of my closet, but knocked off the pattern to make an eventual replacement.

Initially I made the top up in a silver micro-pleat, and wore it for years before it succumbed to the same fate, getting stained with something oil-y. Boo!

At the grandmother’s sale a while back (not this most recent one!) I found some pink micro-pleat, which admittedly I don’t love as much as the silver (I also had plain top in gold, and a long housedress in black micro-pleat!) but I figured I’d use the same cowl neck pattern to use up the pink micro-pleat since I already knew I liked the style in the fabric.

Coffin Trinket Box

Vinyl embellished coffin box

If you saw my Coffin Ring Box post a few weeks ago,  I mentioned that a few years ago I picked up a few of these small coffin-shaped boxes from Michaels.

While one I turned into a ring box, I painted the rest at the same time, and after a visit to the Maker Space, their Cameo Silhouette, and some Oracle 651 permanent vinyl in gloss black, I turned one more into a place to hold some of the small locks I keep for luggage and other things. Upcycled Candle Jar

Charmed Aroma Candle Jars upcycled with permanent vinyl

Charmed Aroma Candle Jars upcycled with permanent vinyl

I’d been seeing posts from Charmed Aroma for a while, and for the holidays, my friend got me a gift card so I could buy myself some at their Cross Iron Mills retail location. I picked up some bath bombs and candles and have been loving them, plus the pretty surprise rings inside.

Something I found with the Charmed Aroma candles (well most of them, not all) – is that the labels peel off SO easily. Not so easily that they’re going to fall off – but really nicely, in one piece, with minimal work, leaving behind minimal residue, which unlike my Bed Bath and Beyond 3-wick candles, makes them an excellent contender for upcycling!

Gothic laser-cut pillar

Laser-cut gothic cathedral and bat pillar

A while ago I was laying in bed and suddenly an idea came to me that I wanted to try out at the Maker Space, using their CNC router, which now has an interesting 3D capability that I haven’t played around with yet but am super interested in.

Unfortunately, shortly after this idea bounced into my head, and I started designing it in Illustrator and Tinkercad (for the laser cut elements and CNC router elements respectively) a part on the CNC router broke, and the team working at the Maker Space have to wait until the next budget season in order to order a replacement and repair the machine.

Of course, I couldn’t leave the idea alone, so figured out a way of doing it without the CNC… for now.
