While I was re-organizing my sewing room a little bit, and had my last group of bikini tops / bralettes waiting to be finished, I came across some leftover fabrics from other projects that would work well for bralettes – and that I didn’t really have enough material to make much of anything else with right now.

Even though my other group of items wasn’t done yet… I still started up with a few more using the same pattern, the Barrett  Bralette from Madalynne lingerie. Get the pattern (without my modifications obviously) and even a sewing kit with everything you’ll need to make your own on the Madalynne lingerie website.

Black Mesh Bat-adorned bralette

Like most likely every other goth lingerie-loving person out there, I am pretty obsessed with Vide Noir lingerie. However, like a lot of folks… I don’t fit into their size range (including their custom range…).  Additionally, they’re constantly sold out (obviously.. the stuff is gorgeous!) and at over $200 for a cupless (not supportive) halter bralette, I also just can’t justify the cost.

However… the obsession, following them constantly on Instagram, and access to the Maker space’s Cameo Silhouette cutter, and a sale on heat transfer vinyl at Michaels…. and I decided to give a try to making something inspired by Vide Noir for my own.

Today I have another bralette made from the Barrett bralette pattern from Madalynne Intimates! Apparently this pattern is joining my bingeable selection of patterns! It’s also a great way to use up smaller pieces of swimwear and knit fabrics.

(Get the free downloadable pattern here: https://madalynne.com/product/barrett-bralette-sewing-pattern/ – though I did need to make a few adjustments for the pattern to get it to fit me the way I wanted – so be prepared to do the same.)

You might remember last year, I bought a bunch of cute swimwear fabrics at the 2022 Grandmother’s Fabric Sale in the spring, and cut out a BUNCH of bikini tops / bralettes using the Barrett bralette pattern from Madalynne Intimates.

Unsurprisingly… I was hunting down swimwear fabrics again at the 2023 Grandmother’s Fabric sale, with the same plan in mind!  These bralettes are just so comfortable to wear, and teamed up with a bikini bottom pattern, make a fantastic two-piece bikini too when made up in swimwear fabric.
