self-made polka dot bikini top or bralette
A little over a year ago I made a blue knit bralette using the Barrett Bralette pattern, and with the heat in June 2021, and the pandemic meaning fashion has been a LOT more casual (since I wasn’t really seeing anyone..) I was wearing it, and my one sports bra ALL the time. SO comfortable!
With a heat wave making my sewing room look way more attractive too – this meant MORE cute bralettes. I started with the bright floral print fabric I had received from a former teacher… and then moved on to other fabrics too!

The next one was a black and white polka dot fabric. I am pretty sure that I got this at Marshall’s fabrics up in Edmonton (thought can’t say 100% for sure). I made it pretty much the same as the bright floral top, but used red soft wide elastic for the bottom band, strap elastic from Fabricland, and 8-shaped rings from Fabricland too.
Like the floral bralette/bikini top, it’s lined in a softer black swimwear spandex-blend.
After talking with my bf on the phone, and he asked if I was going to make bottoms for this one – I opted not to… I plan on mostly wearing it as a bralette rather than a bikini top (although the fabrics are all swimwear friendly) but also I already have some great black bikini bottoms that I can wear with it that will coordinate perfectly.
… but… I do have a lot more of this fabric.. so who knows what I might decide later!
